What Is Founder Coaching?

Being a founder means making decisions, navigating relationships, and taking responsibility for something you care deeply about. It can be exciting and rewarding. It can also feel lonely, especially when people look to you for answers you’re still figuring out yourself.

Founder coaching gives you a regular place to step back, talk openly, and get perspective on what’s happening in your business and life.

You might come with a difficult decision, tension with a cofounder, a leadership challenge, or the feeling that you can’t keep carrying everything the way you have been.

You don’t have to figure it all out alone.

I’ll help you sort through the situation, question assumptions that may be limiting your options, and understand what’s influencing your response. Together, we’ll clarify what matters and identify steps you feel ready to take.

Inescapable Vulnerability of Childhood
Where You May Feel Stuck

Do Any of These Sound Familiar?

You’re building something that matters to you. But some parts of the founder experience are harder to talk about with your team, partners, or the people closest to you.

Everyone Looks to You

You’re expected to set the direction and keep things moving, even when you’re uncertain about what to do next.

You Need a Sounding Board

You want somewhere to talk honestly, explore options, and get perspective without feeling you have to project confidence.

A Conversation Keeps Getting Put Off

Something needs to be addressed with a cofounder, employee, or investor, but you’re unsure how to say it or what will happen afterward.

It’s Hard to Let Go

You want your team to take more ownership, but you keep stepping in, checking, or doing things yourself.

Setbacks Feel Personal

When something goes wrong in the business, you question yourself and find it difficult to regain perspective.

Work Follows You Everywhere

You’re thinking about the business even when you want to rest, enjoy yourself, or be present with the people you love.

Founder Coaching That Goes Beyond Business

Building a business asks a lot of you. You need somewhere to step back, speak honestly, and work through what’s next.

As a founder, you’re often expected to provide direction and reassurance while navigating your own doubts. You may be managing tension with a cofounder, struggling to delegate, or facing an important decision.

Our conversations give you space to think out loud, gain perspective, and examine what’s making a situation difficult. We can prepare for a conversation, clarify your next step, or explore the pressure to prove yourself.

I bring a warm, direct approach. I’ll challenge your assumptions, help you see what you may be overlooking, and support choices that reflect what matters to you.

As you understand yourself more clearly, you can trust your judgment, build stronger working relationships, and make room for your life beyond the business.

HOW I CAN HELP

Areas We Can Work On

Our work starts with what you’re facing now and evolves as you and your business change.

Decisions & Next Steps

Talk through your options, challenge assumptions, and decide how to move forward when there isn’t an obvious answer.

Cofounder & Partner Relationships

Work through tension, differing priorities, and unmet expectations so you can communicate more honestly and address what needs to change.

Leadership & Team Relationships

Prepare for difficult conversations, set clearer expectations, give feedback, and develop a leadership approach that feels natural to you.

Delegation & Responsibility

Explore what makes it hard to step back, clarify what belongs to you, and give others room to take ownership.

Confidence & Perspective

Work through doubt, perfectionism, and the pressure to prove yourself so you can respond to challenges with greater trust in your judgment.

Your Life as the Business Grows

Consider how your role is changing, what you want from the business, and how to make room for your relationships, health, and life outside work.

Meet Wendy

I Know How Personal Building a Business Can Be

Entrepreneurship has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. Both my parents created several businesses, and my grandparents on both sides were entrepreneurs. I’ve built several companies myself, and the men I’ve been married to have all been entrepreneurs.

I’ve experienced how deeply business and personal life can intertwine. The excitement of creating something, the uncertainty of what comes next, the responsibility for other people, and the difficulty of leaving work at work are all familiar to me.

My husband jokingly says I understand “entrepreneur trauma.” What he means is that I understand the emotional toll that building and running a business can sometimes take, even when you love what you do.

Since I began coaching in January 2010, I’ve helped smart, capable people navigate difficult decisions, complicated relationships, and the beliefs and expectations that keep them under pressure.

You can bring me the conversation you’re avoiding, the decision you keep revisiting, or the worry you don’t feel comfortable sharing with your team or family.

I’ll help you see the situation more clearly and understand what’s influencing your response. I’ll also give you practical tools and strategies to communicate more directly, set boundaries, and take your next step.

You deserve support for the person building the business, as well as the business you’re building.

Clarity Call

We start with a free 30 minute conversation about what’s happening, what you’d like support with, and whether working together feels like the right fit.

Your Starting Point

Before our first session, you’ll complete a questionnaire about you, your business, and what you’re navigating. You don’t need a perfectly defined goal. We’ll begin with what feels most important.

Coaching That Fits You

You can work with me session by session or choose a 12 session package. Each conversation responds to what you need, whether that’s working through a decision, preparing for a conversation, or exploring a recurring pattern.

Support Between Sessions

You’re welcome to share questions, insights, or something that comes up between sessions by email or text.

What Changes When You Do This Work

Having somewhere to think openly and get perspective can change how you experience the challenges of being a founder.

  • You get clearer about your options and take next steps with greater confidence.
  • You address difficult conversations with more honesty and less avoidance.
  • You set clearer expectations and give your team more room to take ownership.
  • You recognize when fear, perfectionism, or the need for approval is influencing a decision.
  • You regain perspective more readily when something doesn’t go as planned.
  • You make more deliberate choices about your time, energy, and life beyond work.

Common Questions

Questions About Founder Coaching

Find answers to the questions I’m most often asked about Founder Coaching

Still have a question? Get in touch.
What can I bring to a founder coaching session?

You can bring whatever is taking up your attention: a difficult decision, tension with a cofounder, a conversation you’re avoiding, doubt about your leadership, or the feeling that work is consuming your life. We’ll start there and work through what would help you move forward.

How is this different from working with a business consultant?

A business consultant typically provides advice on strategy or a specific area of the business. My focus is on helping you think clearly, navigate relationships, and understand what’s influencing your decisions and leadership. We’ll work with real situations and identify practical steps you can take.

Do I need to be struggling to benefit from coaching?

No. Coaching can also give you space to reflect, prepare for change, and become more intentional about how you lead. You may be doing well and still value having someone outside the business who will listen, challenge your thinking, and help you see more clearly.

Can you help me work through a cofounder conflict?

Yes. We can explore what’s happening, clarify your concerns, and prepare for a more productive conversation. If you and your cofounder want to work together, I also offer Business Partner Coaching.

What if I’m not sure what I need help with?

You don’t need to arrive with a clear agenda. Feeling overwhelmed, frustrated, disconnected, or unsure is enough of a starting point. We’ll sort through what’s happening and find a useful focus together.

Can we work on personal concerns as well as business challenges?

Yes. Relationships, confidence, boundaries, and personal expectations can all affect your experience as a founder. There’s room to work on what matters to you, including how your business fits into the rest of your life.

You Don’t Have to Figure It All Out Alone

Have somewhere to talk honestly, get perspective, and work through your next step.

Whether you’re facing a specific challenge or simply want more support as you build and lead, we can start with what’s happening now.
